THE TWITTER ANSWER TO YOUR FAVORITE QUOTATION DICTIONARY, WITH TWEETABLE-LENGTH QUOTES THAT ARE CLEVER, COOL, SMART, TOUCHING, WISE, FUNNY, AND MORE

Brevity may be the soul of wit, but 140 characters is the absolute limit on Twitter! Luckily, Tweet This Book allows you to spice up their microblog with the greatest quotes of all time. Each one is not only brief — it is officially tweetable. The quick, punchy quotes in this wonderfully diverse collection come from all circles and include literary greats; politicians like Abe Lincoln, Winston Churchill, and Barack Obama; and sports figures, musicians, and celebrities like Yogi Berra, Tupac Shakur, and Hunter S. Thompson. With an easy-to-use, A-to-Z organization by topic, you can quickly find the perfect quote for anything you want to tweet about.

“The only time to eat diet food is while you’re waiting for the steak to cook.”
—Julia Child

—Oscar Wilde

Customer Reviews

I got this book for Christmas, and I couldn't help reading lines from it out loud to my holiday visitors. Take these for example:

"Time to wash the dishes and clean your house? Look inside your pants. If you find a penis in there, it's not time." Jo Brand

"You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for example." Franklin P. Jones

"Giving birth is like taking your lower lip and forcing it over your head." Carol Burnett

"I am not a complete vegetarian. I eat only animals that have died in their sleep." George Carlin (You can imagine how well this one went over with my vegan sister.)

Of course not all the lines are funny. Some are wise, thought provoking, even tender. But they are all well chosen. As I read I could easily imagine how much fun the Van Youngs had collecting these quotations.

I don't use Twitter, but I am a daily facebook user, and I always aspire to post the kinds of status updates that I myself admire: pithy, humorous, provocative lines that will spark a reaction. This book provides a wealth of great material for facebook users like me.

But even if you don't use technology to connect with others, "Tweet This Book" provides great fodder for the old-school-style human connections. Remember conversation? I mean real, face-to-face conversation? Throw a line from Oscar Wilde or Paula Poundstone (or any of the other notables quoted in this little book) into your conversations now and then, and you will soon build a reputation as a witty interlocutor. . . . the kind who get invited to dinner parties after which no one is tempted to quote Groucho Marx: "I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it."
I am crazy for books of great quotes and this is a fabulous addition to my collection. I'm not much of a tweeter nor a character-counter, but this is a super duper array of witty, wonderful, and worldly thoughts of some of our most outstanding thinkers, and it's small so you can carry it with you for inspiration while standing in the grocery store line or the DMV.
This is just what i was looking for--a wonderful compendium of pithy remarks from clever, articulate people (even those who are dead and/or anonymous), without the intrusion of spontaneous messages, or the need to come up with a reply. Instead, I leave it on my desk for ready access when I need a bit of inspiration or diversion. It's perfect, and when I DO sign on to Twitter I'll aspire to some pretty swell role models.
Buy this book, it will make you sound smart, sassy, wise, funny, shocking, crude and erudite or all of the above. The one thing you won't be is boring (though there is a section on it in the book).
i loved this book! so funny and useful. also a great gift item. i gave it to my 17 year old nephew who then quoted it for the rest of christmas day!
This book is an absolute must-have for anyone using social media! Incredibly well organized, there is a quote for any and every occasion. Need a quote about morning? Yes. Temptation? Yep. Drinks & Drinking? Absolutely. As a marketing professional, often asked for ideas to populate clients' sites with content, this guide has proven indispensable. If there were a Volume 2, I'd gladly purchase that one as well. Those interested in communication, I highly recommend adding it to your collection.
"For people who like that kind of a book, that is the kind of a book they will like." -A.L.

"And I do, and I do" -Me.

Perfect reading in all situations for all occasions. I couldn't put it down, which made typing this review quite difficult.
