As a confirmed programming book junkie, I have to say that this is one of the best I've seen. A little too Fisher Price in some ways -(if you're purchasing a $90 programming book do you reaaally need to have the basic parts of a computer explained to you? My guess is not.) This book is super well-illustrated, it's project-driven as opposed to technique driven, which hugely decreases the "dry factor" and the title says it all: it's a comprehensive resource that will at least get you started on most, if not all common application types (excluding games, that is). Highly recommended!

Don't buy this product, or any of the similar products by this publisher if you are a self-study. They don't give you the solutions to all the exercises unless you are a teacher. I tried contacting the company, and they refused to unlock the solutions to the exercises. It would be nice to be able to find out if I am doing the projects right.

The time it took to receive my order from purchase was perfect, right on time. Sadly, the packaging was awful! Before I even opened the package I noticed a large tare on one side. The packaging was extremely thin too. Half the book was destroyed by water. It is a giant mess! I paid a descent amount for this item too. Really disappointed... (Perhaps next time double box it or use less flimsy cardboard.)

Excellent price,it was actually the best price I could find anywhere. It came earlier than they said it would, and in mint condition.
